Dear Parents and Guardians:

We want to share with you an exciting program that we are implementing at the Clinton Elementary School this year. We have developed a Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) program here at the school. PBIS is a framework for developing positive behavior within the school setting. A PBIS Team was formed last year and worked very hard to create the program. The team was trained and guided by a group of experts in the area of PBIS. Some initiatives were launched last year, such as the Golden Broom Award. The goal of PBIS is to increase, acknowledge and reward students’ positive behavior choices. While implementing this program, teachers and staff will be modeling, discussing and practicing appropriate school behavior. Students will be randomly rewarded by staff when they are “caught” demonstrating positive behaviors. Children will receive a ticket for their positive behavior which will be entered into raffles to win prizes and activities. Be sure to ask your child if they have been receiving “Honey Tickets” and find out what positive behavior they earned it for!

We have also adopted a CES mascot which will align with our PBIS goals. Our mascot is a Bumble Bee named Stinger (a name chosen by the children last year). Hopefully you will see Stinger throughout the school. He is going to become a very big part of our school. Please help our students learn our school rules. The school rules are:

BEE safe
BEE respectful
BEE responsible

With this PBIS initiative we truly hope to increase and encourage positive behavior, decrease negative behavior and increase a feeling of community within the school. We are excited to launch this program!

If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact either Beth McNally, School Counselor and PBIS program coach, or Meghan Silvio, Assistant Principal.

Sincerely,
The CES PBIS Team
