Principal's Message

Dear Clinton Community,

March had some early signs of spring. At CES we enjoyed the warmer temperatures and took advantage of getting outside. We are getting excited to fully welcome spring as we love getting outside and running around. This time of year, we start planning for next year and we will be planning student placements and our step up days.

Clinton Elementary School was proud to recognize our BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), Adam Bressler. He was nominated by several colleagues for the part he plays in many success stories of students at CES. He was referred to as the CES MVP, the calm in the storm, and the unsung hero. Mr. B always responds calmly to students in crisis and we all appreciate his solution focus.

We also recognized two student leaders, Addyson Rouillard and Danika Brandt. They are the epitome of school rules and consistently model expected behaviors. Recently, they have become mentors in Mrs. Zinkus’s kindergarten classroom and demonstrated leadership. They must complete all their work and they’ve been able to manage that plus the responsibility of helping others.

Classroom Highlights

Third graders in Mrs. Cravedi’s classroom explored fractional units. They paid close attention to fractional units as being defined as a whole partitioned into equal parts. They noted why equal was essential when discussing fractional units. They were given the task of exploring concrete items and collaborating in their groups to partition each one into fractional units! Talk about engagement.

  • This image shows a close-up of two students fully immersed in their "liquid math" experiment
  • This final image brings us back to a circular table station, where two students are focused on a specific fractional unit

Second graders in Ms. Bonina’s classroom were subtracting with regrouping and learning how to rename numbers in unit form. There was opportunity for peer collaboration and great use of technology as an interactive instructional tool to efficiently model exchanging and regrouping.

Second graders working with Ms. Danwah did a great job subtracting with decomposition. They were able to use the interactive tv, place value charts with discs, and a posted anchor chart to support their independence.

Kindergarten students in Ms. Synan’s Kindergarten classroom are doing a great job reading during their Appleseeds block. Watching this growth makes my Principal heart burst!

Title 1 Literacy Night

On March 13, 2025, our Reading Specialists, Mrs. Regan, Mrs. Pezzillo, and Mrs. Curtin offered a “Night with the Reading Specialists.” This was a night designed for students that are currently working with our reading specialists so they could show their families what they are working on at school and how they can build that connection at home.

Maggies Retirement

Miss Maggie entered retirement at the end of March. CES wants to thank Miss Maggie for her years of dedicated service, the smiles she shared, the memories she created, and most of all we want to thank her and her handler, Mrs. McNally for the impact they had on our school community. Maggie can enjoy all the pup cups and chase all the tennis balls as she enjoys her forever summer, lounging around at home!
